BUFFALO, N.Y. — The following is a message from Follett Corp., which owns and operates the University at Buffalo bookstore on North Campus:

“The UB Bookstore announced today that it has reopened after being closed due to wind damage. The safety of staff, customers and university community is of utmost importance, therefore, the bookstore will be open with limited customer access while repairs are being made.”

“We are working to restore access and services to the store as quickly as possible. Staff is available to assist in the purchase of books, supplies, clothing, online order pickups, etc. between the hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, and Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The bookstore is closed Sunday.”

“Postal services are expected to resume Monday, March 4. You can always shop online at our website, www.ubuffaloshop.com. We appreciate your support and patience during this time. Thank you.”

Jay Roorbach, director of emergency services at UB, praised Follett for their quick response following the storm.

“The University at Buffalo greatly appreciates the efforts of Follett to secure the building and ensure that service disruptions to students, faculty, staff and the community were very minimal,” Roorbach said.

Elsewhere on campus, University Facilities continues to clear tree branches and other debris, including lightweight portions of the bookstore roof, which were scattered as a result of the storm.

Damage to the university was minimal, aided by advance preparation by the university’s emergency planners and facilities crews. Two broken windows have been boarded up and will be replaced and three doors were repaired. Officials estimate the damage to be less than $10,000.
