Setting Up a Computer for UB Learns

Connect to the Internet

To use UB Learns, you need a computer that is connected to the internet and a web browser.

Use a Supported Web Browser

It is recommended that you use an up-to-date web browser. UB supported software recommendations are available on the UB Software Downloads site.

Blackboard technical support offers a list of certified and compatible browsers, listed by system OS, for use with Blackboard.

Have the Required Software and Plug-Ins

Special plug-ins or players may be needed to view files such as: PDF, sound, video and multimedia file formats (e.g., QuickTime, Windows Media, Flash). These plug-ins and players are available from the UB Software Downloads site.

Enable Java and Disable Pop-up Blockers

In order to use all features of UB Learns, Java must be enabled and pop-up blockers need to be disabled on your web browser. Check your browser’s help to determine how to do this.
