This national committee ensures that member benefits, patient care projects and educational programming address a wide range of issues and reflect the evolving needs of student pharmacist members. Committee members maintain a strong understanding of APhA–ASP member benefits and help chapter leaders leverage these resources to enhance the student pharmacist member experience.

Beginning term at annual meeting

Januale was selected to serve on the Member Engagement Standing Committee by the APhA-ASP National Executive Committee. His one‑year term will begin at the APhA Annual Meeting, taking place March 27–30 in Los Angeles, CA.

In this national role, Januale will support student pharmacists and chapter leaders across APhA–ASP by providing guidance on patient care initiatives, professional development opportunities and chapter operations. He will also serve as a liaison to one of the six national APhA-ASP patient care projects, helping foster collaboration and engagement across the organization.

“This position means the world to me,” says Januale. “APhA has opened the door to so many opportunities that schooling alone can't show you.”

Current national and chapter involvement

Januale currently serves on the national APhA-ASP House of Delegates Policy Reference Committee, where he helps host town hall sessions to gather feedback on policies the association is considering for adoption to their bylaws. He will assist in presenting these policies at the House of Delegates session during the upcoming APhA Annual Meeting.

At the school level, Januale is actively involved in the SPPS chapter of APhA-ASP. He previously served as membership vice president and P1 and P2 Operation Immunization co-chair. He currently serves as the communications vice president and P3 Operation Immunization co-chair.

“I hope to help connect all the different student chapters across the country and be ready to serve and help when their individual needs arise,” he adds. “I always tell people new to the profession of pharmacy that networking matters. Being able to help connect chapters and facilitate collaboration and conversations is another ultimate goal of mine.”

Januale expresses his appreciation for the support he has received throughout his journey in pharmacy school. “The support throughout this process has been the driving force to keep me going. I couldn't be here without the help of everyone else!”
