Academic Path: I began my academic career wanting to go into forestry because I am concerned for the environment and liked the idea of working outdoors. After taking a couple of introductory geology courses, I considered that major. In the end, I realized that my abilities and interests were stronger in the areas of political science and history.

Hobbies and Interests: Photography, ice hockey, history, travel

Education: BA in Communication, BA in Music Performance, MS Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration; Canisius University.

Academic Path: I began college as an undecided major, not knowing exactly what I wanted to do. I utilized my school's Career Development Specialist and landed on communication with a concentration in organizational and interpersonal communication as my first major. I always loved music (and still do) and initially pursued it as a minor until I was encouraged by a music instructor to pursue it as a major. Voila! I became a double major in communication and music performance! I had two majors that I loved, and that could take me in many directions. I changed my mind many times as to what was next for me. I considered studying to become an opera singer, working in human resources, and even the music business. Ultimately, I decided to begin a career in higher education to be able to provide students with support, much like I received, to be able to explore their interests and passions and to achieve the goals that they set for themselves. That was my best decision yet!

Specialty Area: Exploratory Transitions and Prehealth.

Hobbies and Interests: I love to sing! You can catch me having my own mini concert or randomly spewing out Hamilton lyrics. I love binge-watching my favorite shows over and over again, trying out small DIY home projects, spending time with my family and friends, and traveling.

Education: BA in Psychology with a minor in Spanish, Daemen University; MS in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration, Buffalo State College

Academic Path: As a Psychology major, I began my studies with the intention of becoming a psychologist, hoping to one day work with children in a therapeutic setting. After taking different general education courses and courses required for my major, I realized that my interests were much broader. Throughout my time in college, I changed my mind multiple times, aspiring to be a child life specialist, teacher, social worker, lawyer, mental health counselor, school counselor…the list goes on! After a lot of research and a few informational interviews, I ultimately made the decision to pursue a career in higher education so I could support students in exploring their own academic paths!

Specialty Area: Exploratory student advising, programming

Hobbies and Interests: If I’m not in the office, you can find me at the gym teaching a group fitness class, trying out a new recipe from Pinterest, or spending time with my friends and family. I also enjoy reading, video games, and going to see musicals and plays.

Education: BA in Women's Studies (minor in Anthropology), University of Rochester; MS in Student Personnel Administration, Buffalo State College; MS in Higher Education, University of Rochester

Academic Path: I started college as an economics major! I wanted to be a business woman. Worked in retail after graduating from college and decided I really wanted to get back into the college environment—both for school and my career!

Hobbies and Interests: Parenting, skiing, biking, traveling

Education: BA in Industrial Organizational Psychology, Canisius College; MSEd in School Counseling, St. Bonaventure University.

Academic Path: I started as a business major at the Rochester Institute of Technology. I transferred to Canisius College where I changed my major to psychology. After years of working in the industry and owning my own business, I decided to change my career and pursue my graduate degree in counseling from St. Bonaventure University.

Specialty Area: Prehealth advising

Hobbies and Interests: hobbies are old cars and home improvements. I enjoy camping with family and friends.

Education: BS in Mass Communications with a minor in Communication Studies - SUNY Oneonta MPS in Human Resources - Stony Brook University.

Academic Path: I initially pursued mass communications as I wanted to be a broadcaster for NASCAR. However, I became a tour guide with the Undergraduate Admissions Office my first year at Oneonta and enjoyed working with prospective students. I stayed involved with the admissions office during my undergraduate career and became a resident assistant in Campus Housing, which led to jobs in admissions and academic advising. I enjoy meeting students when they enter UB and helping them navigate to the program of their choice.

Specialty Area: Exploratory Student advising, New Student Registration, UE 101, Orientation, and Recruitment initiatives.

Hobbies and Interests: Short order cook, chauffeur, cheerleader, banker, paramedic, recreation director, loan officer and chief justice... I am the mom of two young boys! When I do get free time, I enjoy spending it with my husband and our boys, cooking, baking, crafting, reading, and going to the gym.

Education: BA in Math with Secondary Education Certification, Geneseo; MSW in Social Work, UB; MS in Student Personnel Administration, Buffalo State College.

Academic Path: Growing up, I was often encouraged to go into teaching and I frequently helped my friends with math, which is how I decided on math education without looking at any other options. However, within the first year of a full-time teaching job, I realized it wasn’t for me. I wanted to help students outside of the classroom so I went into social work. I worked with a variety of age groups before choosing to narrow my focus to college students. It took some trial and error for me to figure it out, as is common for many people, but I know I am now in the right place.

Specialty Area: Prehealth

Hobbies and Interests: I love reading, music, movies, and most things that fall under the category of “geeky,” especially comic books and sci-fi.

Education: BA in Communication with double minors in English and Psychology, University at Buffalo.

Academic Path: I spent all 4 years of my undergraduate education here at UB! I originally majored in English with the hopes of becoming an English teacher, but when I discovered the Communication program, I never looked back. During my time as a student, I was offered a job in CAS Advising as a Student Assistant and it inspired me to pursue a career in higher education. I find engaging with college students and helping them problem-solve throughout their academic journey to be extremely rewarding. I plan to further my academic path by obtaining a masters in higher education so I can better serve the UB student population.

Specialty Area: New student registration.

Hobbies and Interests: One thing to know about me is I will never turn down the chance to go to a concert! But I also love reading, writing, movies, makeup and video games. My friends and family are a top priority for me, so spending quality time with them is a must.

Education: BA English, Canisius College; MS Rehabilitation Counseling.

Academic Path: I pursued an undergraduate degree in English because I greatly enjoy creative writing and reading about all kinds of people and their life stories. This avid interest in people’s memoirs and history led me to pursue a master’s degree in counseling, with a particular interest in wanting to work with people with disabilities. As an academic advisor, I greatly enjoy working with students and inspiring students to consider all of the possibilities that their lives can bring.

Specialty Area: Working with exploratory students and campus-wide projects.

Hobbies and Interests: I enjoy spending time with my family and son. I like playing all sports, especially running, soccer and Tae Kwon Do. I love to watch movies, write, travel, and particularly read autobiographies.
