Assistant Director, Senior Academic Advisor Email: jgorski3@buffalo.edu
Education: BA in English; MPS in Literacy; MS in Educational Leadership and Supervision.
Academic Path: My academic path is something I look back on fondly, however, it has not directly correlated with my career. My degrees afforded me a unique and extremely useful set of skills that I have built upon to fit my career choices. I have chosen a career in higher education as I enjoy assisting students with their academic and career trajectories.

Hobbies and Interests: On Wednesday evenings during the semester, you can find me at the Newman Center (UB’s Catholic Ministry) cooking dinner for over 200 students that come for a free home-cooked meal. The food is delicious! I currently have a love bird that is super spoiled (she’s a rescue) and truly has a great life in my home. I also am growing a business for which I make and create dog apparel (jackets, pajamas, bow ties and bandanas), as well as aprons and purses. I travel to Chicago and Los Angeles quite frequently to visit my two artistic children who currently live in those cities.
Coordinator, Prehealth Advising Senior Academic Advisor
Email: alp25@buffalo.edu
Education: BA in Math with Secondary Education Certification, Geneseo; MSW in Social Work, UB; MS in Student Personnel Administration, Buffalo State College.
Academic Path: Growing up, I was often encouraged to go into teaching and I frequently helped my friends with math, which is how I decided on math education without looking at any other options. However, within the first year of a full-time teaching job, I realized it wasn’t for me. I wanted to help students outside of the classroom so I went into social work. I worked with a variety of age groups before choosing to narrow my focus to college students. It took some trial and error for me to figure it out, as is common for many people, but I know I am now in the right place.
Specialty Area: Prehealth
Hobbies and Interests: I love reading, music, movies, and most things that fall under the category of “geeky,” especially comic books and sci-fi.

Education: BA in Political Science; MA in College Student Personnel
Academic Path: I began my academic career wanting to go into forestry because I am concerned for the environment and liked the idea of working outdoors. After taking a couple of introductory geology courses, I considered that major. In the end, I realized that my abilities and interests were stronger in the areas of political science and history.

Education: BA English, Canisius College; MS Rehabilitation Counseling.
Academic Path: I pursued an undergraduate degree in English because I greatly enjoy creative writing and reading about all kinds of people and their life stories. This avid interest in people’s memoirs and history led me to pursue a master’s degree in counseling, with a particular interest in wanting to work with people with disabilities. As an academic advisor, I greatly enjoy working with students and inspiring students to consider all of the possibilities that their lives can bring.
Specialty Area: Working with exploratory students and campus-wide projects.
Hobbies and Interests: I enjoy spending time with my family and son. I like playing all sports, especially running, soccer and Tae Kwon Do. I love to watch movies, write, travel, and particularly read autobiographies.

Email: etm3@buffalo.edu
Education: BA in Communication; EdM in Counseling and & Educational Psychology-College Student Personnel.
Academic Path: I selected communication as my undergraduate major and was intending on pursuing a PhD in this area. I was accepted to doctoral programs, but I discovered that I truly liked the student support side of academic life and changed my graduate focus. I am inspired each and every day by UB exploratory and prehealth students (through my former position of 20 years) who work so hard toward amazing accomplishments.
Specialty Area: Formerly prehealth advising (pre-med, pre-dentistry, pre-optometry, pre-chiropractic, pre-veterinary, pre-podiatry, pre-PA) and now directing the Center.
Hobbies and Interests: I love to travel, volunteer and am advocate for animals, especially shelter/rescue dogs (Siberian Huskies). I have a strong interest in financial literacy (as well as the psychology of money/behaviors surrounding money) and imparting this knowledge to others.
