Design of Motion Base for Simulating Ship Decks mplate

UAV designed by student.

Explore automated UAV landing on ship decks.

Project description

The goal of the project is to design and build a three degree of freedom platform which can serve to simulate the motion of a ship deck to permit automated UAV landing testing. The platform should be able to pitch, roll and heave and have a bandwidth which permits wave stimulated ship deck motion. It should also be driven by motors which are strong enough to account for the landing impact of UAVs.

Project outcome

To develop hardware which can be used to test and validate automated UAV landing on ship decks.
