Checking In: Step by Step
Important Reminders about Check In
- Arrive anytime during your assigned 1-hour appointment window
- It is recommended that you complete move in within 3 hours of your arrival at the check in station
- Students must have a photo ID to complete check in
- Know your housing assignment, building and room number
- The UB Card Office will be open for new students who have not received their UB ID card at orientation. To receive your card, please bring a valid form of photo ID (government issued).
How to Check In
During Scheduled Appointment Times
- Arrive at Moody Terrace or the Richmond Lot during your 1-hour appointment window.
- Exit your vehicle and walk down Moody Terrace toward the "loop". You will report to the tent on the right (across from Richmond Buildings 2 and 3).
- Receive your key(s) and a post card with directions and other important information.
- Park in designated unloading zones.
- Unload your vehicle. Do not leave belongings unattended.
- Move your car to long-term parking spaces/overflow lots (including the Jarvis lot where shuttle service to and from Ellicott will be provided on Thursday, August 21st).
- Begin moving belongings to your assigned room.
Checking in After Hours?
If you need to move in/arrive after published hours, please check back later for further instructions.
- Early Arrival check in times are 9am – 6pm from Saturday, Aug. 16, to Wednesday, Aug. 20.
- Students approved for Early Arrival may arrive any time during published hours. Appointments are not required.
- New students arriving at UB before August 21 must apply and be approved for Early Arrival.
- The earliest possible date to arrive for Fall 2025 is Saturday, August 16.

- Apartments (Creekside, Flint, Flickinger, Hadley, South Lake): Assigned Village Offices
- Ellicott (Evans, Fargo, Red Jacket, Richmond, Spaulding, Wilkeson):
- 8/16, 8/17, and 8/20 - The Landing at Ellicott Welcome Desk
- 8/18-8/19 - Ellicott Area Office in The Landing at Ellicott (2nd Floor)
- Governors (Lehman, Clinton, Dewey, Roosevelt):
- 8/16-8/19 - Governors Area Office in 108 Lehman Hall
- 8/20 - Governors check in tent, located near entrance to Lehman Hall
- 8/16-8/19 - Governors Area Office in 108 Lehman Hall
- Greiner: Front Desk in A Wing - 102 Greiner Hall
- South Campus (Clement, Goodyear): Main Street Area Office in 119 Goodyear Hall
- Moving carts are available in designated areas
- Carts must be checked out with a staff member before use.
- A UBID is required for check out.
- Only one cart can be issued to each student at a time.
- Carts should be returned as soon as you are finished using them.
- Carts must be returned to a staff member in a designated area.
- Carts can only be issued and returned during posted business hours.
- If your cart is not returned by the close of business, keep it until the following day.
- Unreturned carts will be assessed an $138 replacement fee.

Finding Your Room
Walking Directions from the Parking Lot
Buildings 1 & 2
- When in Moody Terrace (Richmond loop), walk towards Building 3.
- If full, parking in Richmond B lot and walk forward towards Building 3 (on your left).
- Enter Building 3 and turn left to follow hallway down.
- At the end of the hallway, turn left and follow hallway.
- Make a quick right and use elevator EL-100 directly on your right.
Buildings 3 & 4
- When in Moody Terrace (Richmond loop), walk towards Building 3.
- If full, parking in Richmond B lot and walk forward towards Building 3 (on your left).
- Enter Building 3, turn right and follow hallway down past the laundry room on your left.
- Make a right through the Building 4 door.
- For Building 3, use elevator EL-101 on your left.
- For Building 4, use ramp to ground level and use elevator EL-102 directly ahead.
Buildings 5 & 6
- Park in Richmond A lot.
- Follow sidewalk up and enter Building 6 door.
- Turn right through blue door and make a quick left down hallway.
- Walk past Rooms 191 and 192 on your left.
- Use elevator EL-103 on your right.
Where to Park After Unloading
Parking Reminder for Ellicott Complex Move-In:
After unloading your belongings, we kindly ask that you promptly relocate your vehicle to long term parking spaces/overflow lots, including the Jarvis Parking Lots to help keep the Spaulding and Richmond Lots open for fellow students arriving later in the day. This keeps the move-in experience flowing smoothly for everyone!
How to Get to Jarvis Parking Lots from Spaulding and Richmond:
Exit onto right Frontier Road. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto John James Audubon Parkway. At the next roundabout, take the third exit onto Lee Road—the Jarvis Parking Lot entrance will be the next right.
How to get back to the Ellicott Complex:
A continuous shuttle will operate between the Jarvis Parking Lots and the Ellicott Complex from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Thursday August 21st ONLY, offering a convenient park-and-ride solution throughout the day.
