Checking In: Step by Step
Important Reminders about Check In
- Arrive anytime during your assigned 1-hour appointment window
- It is recommended that you complete move in within 3 hours of your arrival at the check in station
- Students must have a photo ID to complete check in
- Know your housing assignment, building and room number
- The UB Card Office will be open for new students who have not received their UB ID card at orientation. To receive your card, please bring a valid form of photo ID (government issued).
How to Check In
During Scheduled Appointment Times
- Arrive at the Hadley Village Office located in the community building during your 1-hour appointment window.
- New students will start by picking up their UB ID. Please bring a government-issued photo ID with you (driver’s license/passport)
- Receive your key(s) and a post card with directions and other important information.
- Park in a location closest to your assigned building
- Unload your vehicle. Do not leave belongings unattended.
- Move your car to long-term parking spaces/overflow lots.
- Begin moving belongings to your assigned room.
Checking in After Hours?
Report to your area or village office and call the phone number posted at your location. A staff member will meet you to issue your key and check you in.
- Early Arrival check in times are 9am – 6pm from Saturday, Aug. 16, to Wednesday, Aug. 20.
- Students approved for Early Arrival may arrive any time during published hours. Appointments are not required.
- New students arriving at UB before August 21 must apply and be approved for Early Arrival.
- The earliest possible date to arrive for Fall 2025 is Saturday, August 16.

- Apartments (Creekside, Flint, Flickinger, Hadley, South Lake): Assigned Village Offices
- Ellicott (Evans, Fargo, Red Jacket, Richmond, Spaulding, Wilkeson):
- 8/16, 8/17, and 8/20 - The Landing at Ellicott Welcome Desk
- 8/18-8/19 - Ellicott Area Office in The Landing at Ellicott (2nd Floor)
- Governors (Lehman, Clinton, Dewey, Roosevelt):
- 8/16-8/19 - Governors Area Office in 108 Lehman Hall
- 8/20 - Governors check in tent, located near entrance to Lehman Hall
- 8/16-8/19 - Governors Area Office in 108 Lehman Hall
- Greiner: Front Desk in A Wing - 102 Greiner Hall
- South Campus (Clement, Goodyear): Main Street Area Office in 119 Goodyear Hall
- Moving carts are available in designated areas
- Carts must be checked out with a staff member before use.
- A UBID is required for check out.
- Only one cart can be issued to each student at a time.
- Carts should be returned as soon as you are finished using them.
- Carts must be returned to a staff member in a designated area.
- Carts can only be issued and returned during posted business hours.
- If your cart is not returned by the close of business, keep it until the following day.
- Unreturned carts will be assessed an $138 replacement fee.
