On Campus: The Weigh-In

Faculty experts shed light on news that makes us go, “wha?”

The News:

“Humans have always presented themselves carefully depending on their audience, and today social media like Facebook allow us to share text, images and videos with potentially global audiences. In return, we are exposed to countless messages like these from others.

"Not surprisingly, the content shared online is highly manicured, sculpted and strategically selected to make us look as good as possible. In the end, this may set up unrealistic social comparison scenarios, which end up making us feel worse about ourselves.”
