The Asia Research Institute (ARI) at the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB) is pleased to host the 5th International Conference on the Sociology of Korea (I-CSK), October 2-3, 2026. The conference will provide a venue for scholars across the globe to come together to share their ongoing projects on Korea and the Korean diaspora. The program will consist of presentations that address various issues of sociological significance, including:
1. Family, Health, and Population (organizers: Jaein Lee and Sojung Lim)
2. Gender and Sexualities (organizer: Hyeyoung Woo)
3. (Im)migration, Race, and Ethnicity (organizer: Minjeong Kim)
4. Stratification and Inequality (organizers: Jung In and Hyunjoon Park)
5. Political Sociology / Economic Sociology (organizers: Su Yeone Jeon and Paul Chang)
6. Other topics (organizer: ChangHwan Kim)
On Saturday afternoon, October 3, there will be an optional courtesy tour to Niagara Falls.
To help defray participation costs, we will offer participants the option to share hotel rooms if they are interested. More details will be provided to selected participants in July.
