Barkera® is an alumni-led, education-first pet care platform dedicated to improving the lives of pets and their owners worldwide. Founded and led by University at Buffalo alumni, Barkera® maintains a close and active partnership with UB, collaborating with students, faculty, and academic programs to connect real-world industry challenges with hands-on educational experiences.

The pet industry remains highly fragmented—pet owners, veterinarians, breeders, rescues, shelters, and trainers often operate in silos. Barkera® exists to unify these experts within our ecosystem, breaking down barriers and fostering collaboration through proactive, preventative, and science-backed education.

Our mission is to elevate pet ownership by equipping pet owners with clear, accessible knowledge and trusted resources so they can make informed, proactive, and preventative decisions about their pets’ health, behavior, nutrition, grooming, and overall care. By empowering owners with education and expert guidance, we believe pets and the people who love them can live healthier, happier lives together.
