Adiam Tsegai, PhD ’08, EdM ’00, BA ’88
Tsegai’s 27-year career is marked by successful leadership and administrative expertise in various facets of higher education, emphasizing high academic standards, diversity and access. Her strengths include adeptly leveraging academic resources, optimizing operations with data, setting strategic goals, effective budget management and fostering leadership and collaboration within a diverse college community.
Tsegai was appointed president of SUNY Erie Community College by the SUNY Board of Trustees in December 2023. Prior to that she served as officer-in-charge of SUNY Erie and previously held the positions of provost and vice president for academic affairs, as well as associate vice president for academic affairs of health sciences, engineering, and technologies.
She holds a doctor of philosophy in educational and leadership policy and social foundations, a master of education in general education, and a bachelor of arts in psychology and African American studies, all from UB. Additionally, she earned an associate’s degree in liberal arts and social science from SUNY Erie.
