UB faculty and staff are using Recording with Panopto to easily create professional quality recordings that combine video, voice and visuals from your screen, and then share them with students, coworkers and the world. If you’re new to Recording with Panopto and want to get started, here are a few easy ways to do it.

Visit the UBIT website

Look at our introduction and features section to find out how Panopto can help you present classroom materials to an online audience, record meetings and more. The step-by-step instructions cover everything from signing in for the first time to downloading and installing Panopto on any device, basic recording, editing, sharing and more.

You can even download a free eBook about planning interactive learning sessions, and a PowerPoint presentation with 12 tips for presenting on-camera.

Watch the video tutorials

If you’re a more visual learner, UBIT staff members have created in-house tutorial videos for Recording with Panopto. These short videos cover topics like downloading and installing Panopto and sharing Panopto recordings in UBlearns.

Because these videos were made using the Panopto software, you can also get a sense of what the finished product looks like, and how easy it is to create a recording of your own.

Attend online webinars and office hours from Panopto

Panopto holds live webinars every other Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., where you can watch, learn, ask questions and get familiar with Panopto’s features. The 2 Wednesday of the month covers the basics, and the 4 Wednesday of the month is for advanced training. If you miss the live webinars, they are all recorded and archived for on-demand viewing later.

Every Friday at 12 p.m., Panopto experts are waiting online to answer questions during a live Q&A session that anyone can join.

To attend either the Wednesday webinars or the Friday Q&A session, visit the Panopto website.

Get help in person

You can also schedule an on-demand, one-on-one Panopto training session with a UBIT staff member. Just fill out our online request form, letting us know any areas where you’d like assistance—you can select logging in, downloading and installing, recording, sharing and more. Someone will reach out shortly to schedule a meeting.

Of course, help with this and anything else IT-related at UB is available at the UBIT Help Center online, or by calling 716-645-3542.
