Student & UB-Owned Computers Download and Instructions

These instructions can be used to download Mathematica for Windows, Macintosh or Linux.

  1. Go to the Wolfram portal and create a Wolfram ID using your @buffalo.edu email address.
  2. Complete the form below that matches your status to request an Activation Key.  The key will display on the page and also be sent to your @buffalo.edu email address:
  3. Click the Product Summary page link to access your license.
  4. Click Get Downloads and select Download next to your platform.

Run the installer on your machine, and enter the Activation Key at prompt.

Faculty/Staff Download and Instructions

These instructions can be used to download Mathematica for Windows, Macintosh or Linux.

  1. Go to the Wolfram faculty/staff personal download portal.
  2. Enter the activation key:
    • New installs: Use the activation key 3321-2498
    • Upgrades: Use the existing activation key  
  3. Click Continue.
  4. Choose the method you want to use to receive the software.
  5. Choose the operating system.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Enter your office address and phone number.
  8. Enter your home address and phone number.
  9. For verification, enter ldap.buffalo.edu at My status can be verified via our online staff directory at the following URL.
  10. Check I agree to the retention of my personal data as explained in the Privacy Policy.*
  11. Click Submit

Eligibility

  • UB students, faculty or staff for use on personally-owned computers
  • UB faculty/staff for use on UB-owned computers

This software is not licensed for federally sponsored research.
