The University at Buffalo Information Technology (UBIT) operates as a covered entity as defined by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Civil Rights (OCR). Policy

UBIT provides a mandatory security training and awareness program to all members of its workforce, including management, who are authorized to access to ePHI systems. UBIT ensures implementation of security awareness and training programs for all members of its workforce, including members of its management.

Applicability

This policy applies to all UBIT workforce members.

Responsibility

Workforce members: Adhere to policies and procedures as written.

HIPAA Security and Privacy Officer: Ensures implementation of security awareness and training programs for all members of its workforce.

Compliance Officer: Participates in ensuring security of ePHI is effective, in conjunction with the HIPAA Security and Privacy Officer.
