Summary

In most cases, automatic rule-based email forwarding and redirecting to external and non-centrally supported email servers is not permitted.

Exceptions are made only if you are a full-time UB faculty member with email forwarding rules currently in place in the on-premises Exchange system and have approval from your Dean or VP.

Guidelines

Email forwarding is not permitted if you:

  • Do not already have email forwarding rules in place
  • Are a member of the UB Department of Biomedical Engineering, School of Social Work, or any of UB’s Health Sciences schools:
    • Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Science
    • School of Dental Medicine
    • School of Public Health and Health Professions
    • School of Nursing
    • School of Pharmacy
  • Are a member of the College of Arts and Sciences in the following Clinics:
    • Psychological Services Clinic
    • Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic
  • Have access to Category 1 restricted data
  • Are involved with a grant or contract where forwarding or redirecting of email would be a violation of the terms of your grant or contract

All rule-based redirecting and forwarding to non-centrally supported email servers will be discontinued beginning July 1, 2022
