The latest version of Symantec Endpoint Protection is now available to download at no cost from UBIT’s website. You will want to update it as soon as possible to correct security risks present in older versions.

Previous versions of Symantec were susceptible to a number of security vulnerabilities, potentially allowing access to unauthorized files. Older versions also suffered from memory corruption, which could be exploited by scammers to harm your computer. Symantec has corrected these problems and various other problems in the latest version: 12.1.7004. Symantec is advising all clients to prioritize this update for maximum security and peace of mind.

Symantec Endpoint Protection consists of both anti-virus software and firewall protection. Anti-virus software defends against viruses, worms, and Trojan horses hiding in emails, instant messages and file downloads. Meanwhile, a powerful firewall protects your computer from hackers, spyware, malware, and Internet worms that may attack while you are online.

If you have questions about your device’s security or need assistance with the latest Symantec software, please contact the UBIT Help Center at 716-645-3542 or stop by the Lockwood 2nd Floor Cybrary (North Campus) or Abbott 1st Floor Health Sciences Library (South Campus).
