The Conversation features an article written by Christine Bartholomew to explain what’s at stake if the Kroger Albertson merger deal goes through and why the government is opposing the deal. “The proposed merger involves more than 5,000 stores in 48 states. Millions of their customers, whose shopping routines could be affected if the deal goes through, may not recognize these brand names because they shop at supermarket chains large and small that the companies have acquired in recent decades through previous mergers,” she wrote.
