The (real) story of Thanksgiving

Published November 25, 2021

NBC New York spoke with Joe Stahlman about what really happened on the first Thanksgiving and why Americans should still celebrate the holiday. “I’m not trying to destroy any holiday. Actually, I’m trying to embrace it and allow all of us an opportunity to know that there’s more to a story,” Stahlman said. “When Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving the first national holiday, he did it for a reason, and I think that’s the reason we should really embrace. …He was looking for something that would bring people together.”
