NBC News featured Jacob Neiheisel in an article about how state lawmakers are divided over calls for social justice and police reform. Democrats have proposed measures to reform police use-of-force policies while Republicans have focused on cracking down on protestors. Neiheisel said the contrasting responses relate to political ambition, re-election campaigns, white supremacy and a lack of bipartisanship. “There’s a lot of pressure to be on board with group positions, and there are electoral and legislative incentives,” he said, adding that politicians are trying to satisfy supporters, who often double as campaign donors and rally attendees.
