The Chronicle of Higher Education reports on how members of COVID-19’s freshman class are lonely and struggling but ultimately making it through their first year of college. The article quotes Sharon Mitchell, senior director of counseling, health and wellness at UB. Typically, when a freshman is feeling lonely, colleges prescribe a simple solution: “We need to get you engaged,” Mitchell says. This semester, it’s harder to give those students options, she said.
