Microsoft, Energy Department to develop disaster-response AI tools

The Wall Street Journal featured commentary from Chris Renschler in an article about a partnership between the U.S. Department of Energy and Microsoft that will develop artificial intelligence tools aimed at helping first responders. Renschler said that first responders, including those fighting fires, often lack real-time information. He added that having systems that can provide real-time information or even can simulate real scenarios, can make a difference.
