Writers grapple with describing a vanishing world

An article in The New Yorker about naturalists who are chronicling the alarming extinction of not just animal species but geographic features of the earth reports Irus Braverman, professor of law and geography, recently interviewed coral biologists about global bleaching events, combined with various other forms of destruction such as disease, dredging and dynamite fishing, that have convinced marine scientists that reefs are in grave trouble. The article notes that she is the author of a forthcoming book, “Coral Whisperers: Scientists on the Brink.”
