CGTV News, a 24-hour English news channel based in Beijing, conducted a live interview with Brian Wolfe, assistant professor of finance in the UB School of Management, about shadow banking, its impact on the global economy and whether it is helpful or harmful. “Shadow banking is a really large part of the U.S. economy at this stage, so if you take a look at the volume of credit intermediation that has occurred in the past year, half of its comes through shadow banks, the other half through the traditional banking system,” he said.
