An article in The Atlantic about Donald Trump’s executive orders calling for the construction of a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border and a crackdown on so-called “sanctuary cities” quotes Rick Su, professor of law who studies immigration and local government. “[There was] a lot of bluster and talk about penalizing sanctuary cities, but for all the extreme positions, the order recognized that the president’s power is arguably quite limited,” he said.
