An article in Huffington Post reviews “Polarized: Making Sense of a Divided America,” a new book by James Campbell, UB Distinguished Professor of Political Science, that looks at how government became so polarized and dysfunctional, whether voters are as polarized as the politicians they elect and what, if anything can be done about it. The problems ascribed to contemporary American politics, Campbell writes, “are not so much the result of too many people being liberals and conservatives, but of too many of these polarized people being a bit too pig-headed, narrow-minded, unrealistic, disrespectful and ill-informed.”
