An article in The Wall Street Journal about new research that shows that women find men who are good storytellers are more attractive and desirable as long-term partners interviews Melanie Green, associate professor of communication, and Kari Winter, professor of transnational studies and director of UB’s Institute for Research and Education on Women and Gender. “Storytelling is linked to the ability to be a good provider,” because a man is explaining what he can offer, Green said. “It is empowering to the teller because they get recognition from the listener. And it is empowering to the listener because it helps them understand the teller,” Winter said. The article is the second-most-popular on the WSJ.com site since it was posted on July 4.
