What your tongue and tonsils could tell you about your sleeping habits

An article on Huffington Post reports on a new study by UB orthodontic researcher Thikriat Al-Jewair that found the size of a person’s tonsils and tongue may indicate their risk for obstructive sleep apnea. “We need to teach students about this condition before they get out in the field and educate dentists about the major role they play in identifying and treating patients with sleep-related disorders,” she said. “Dentists see into their patient’s mouths more than physicians do and the signs are easy to identify.” Articles also appeared in England’s Daily Mail and Mirror, MSN, Men’s Fitness and WMDT-TV in Maryland.
