An article in the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports research by scientists in UB’s Institute for Sustainable Transportation and Logistics has shown that social media reports can complement traditional weather observations and improve travel information relayed to motorists, and quotes Qing He, Stephen Still Assistant Professor in Transportation Engineering and Logistics. “Tweets happen in real time and provide good information,” he said. “You get lots of information on social media and better understand the problems.”
