Obama says that without family support he could have been in prison

An article in the Washington Post about President Barack Obama’s visit to a federal prison quotes Teresa Miller, law professor, who said the visit – which was the first by a sitting president – was of huge significance to inmates. “Having him acknowledge their existence and the hardship they face is extremely significant. We have a prison system that really renders people invisible.”
