WHYY in Philadelphia reported on a study on lung cancer patients and insomnia by Grace Dean, associate professor in the School of Nursing. Dean is doing a pilot study on a non-midcation method of helping improve sleep among lung cancer patients, 50-80% of whom report insomnia. “They tell us they’re sleeping during the day and they’re not sleeping well at night.” Patients in the study will wear glasses that shine light into the eyes during the day, a way of resetting the body’s internal clock. Stories also appeared in Newsworks and ExtremeTech.
