A briefing held Thursday to update information about construction of the new School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences was covered by several local news outlets. The Buffalo News reported on the project’s employment impact and construction details, and notes the school currently has approximately 100 workers on-site, a number that will grow to about 400 to 500 workers at the peak of construction. A story on Time-Warner Cable News interviewed Michael Cain, vice president for health sciences and medical school dean, who said: “It’s 628,000 square feet of very innovative education and research space, all of this allowing us to practice better health care and health care delivery and make Buffalo more and more of a destination for education, new knowledge and advanced patient care.” A story on WBFO-FM also quoted Cain, who said Buffalo “is a different city, in a very positive way” than he first moved here more than eight years ago. WGRZ-TV also covered the briefing.
