An article on Vox interviews Phil Arena, assistant professor of political science, about the reasons he decided not to vote in yesterday’s election. “I don’t vote because I don’t feel any personal sense or obligation or satisfaction from voting,” he said. “And my understanding of research on the topic is that the instrumental argument for voting – that is, voting in order to directly determine the outcome – doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense.”
