Edward Furlani, professor of electrical engineering, was featured in a story on PBS’s History Detectives about a mysterious boot with magnets, as well as coils of wire, attached to the bottom of it. The boot may have designed for use by astronauts to allow them to walk in and on spacecraft, and Furlani explained how the magnetic boots worked. The story appeared on television stations that include WUFT-TV in Gainesville, Fla., and WCML-TV in Alpana, Mich.
