An article in the Buffalo News about Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's "Buffalo Billion" economic-development program, outlined during his visit to Buffalo on Tuesday, reports the regional plan is centered on initiatives such as growth of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, including the planned move downtown of the UB School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. An Associated Press article about the plan quotes UB President Satish K. Tripathi, who serves as co-chair of the Western New York Regional Economic Development Council. "Our signature initiatives are first and foremost about private sector jobs and investment," he said. "The intent of our plan is to utilize the public funding as seed money to attract the businesses that will make a long-term investment in our local economy."
