Buffalo News publishes UB president's op-ed on the role of academic research

An op-ed in the Buffalo News by UB President Satish K. Tripathi looks at the role academic research -- including research conducted at UB -- plays in the nation's health, security and economic prosperity, and calls on the federal government to continue making "robust investments in academic research, even during austere budget climates." The op-ed notes that UB's network of multidisciplinary research has translated into 165 patents and has launched more than 65 companies, from the life sciences sector to environmental engineering, information technology and advanced manufacturing.
