PBS and New York Times covered UB research on largest tobacco study ever

Gary Giovino, chair of UB's Department of Community Health and Health Behavior, was interviewed on PBS Newshour about his new study, published in the British medical journal The Lancet, that revealed that the use of tobacco in developing countries is booming. The report, which was heard nationwide on public radio stations, looked at tobacco users in 14 developing nations and included data from the U.S. and U.K. for comparison. Giovino's groundbreaking study also was the reported on in articles in The New York Times.
