An article in The New York Times looks at the positive effect the UB 2020 plan -- and the move of the UB medical school downtown -- could play in the transformation of Buffalo, and the enthusiastic support it has received among local business leaders, politicians and community members, who are hopeful for the economic impact it would provide. The article includes a photo and interview UB President Satish K. Tripathi, who said, "For the community, it means economic development. For the students, it means a better a better education here. For the construction industry, it means really a lot more jobs." Robert G. Shibley, dean of the School of Architecture and Planning, is quoted about the vitality the plan would bring to downtown Buffalo.
