An article in the New Haven Register on police officers being exempt from Connecticut state law mandating the use of seatbelts reports results of a UB study analyzing hundreds of patrol car crashes showed that 40.4 percent of unbelted occupants died compared with 15.5 percent of those wearing seat belts.
