MSNBC: Communication prof discusses link between reality shows, social networking

The Cosmic Log section on MSNBC reports on research by Michael Stefanone, assistant professor of communication and an expert on the cultural impact of social media, and Derek Lackaff, a doctoral candidate in the department, that showed that online media, especially social networking sites, gives regular people the opportunity to craft an identity and an audience for themselves, just like celebrities do.
