Bruce Jackson, SUNY Distinguished Professor of English and American studies, is quoted in an article in The Washington Post on what life was like during the Great Depression. "We don't feel old pain," he said. "What we remember are the narratives...what survives are the memories....What happens when something so horrible is so beautiful?"
