Chicago Tribune: RIA scientist comments on shame and guilt

Ronda Dearing, research scientist in UB's Research Institute on Addictions, is quoted in an article in the Chicago Tribune on the role shame and guilt play in people's actions. While guilt leads a person to acknowledge what he has done and try to repair the damage, Dearing notes that "with shame, you get so focused on `I'm a bad person,' the event tends to get lost.
