An article in the San Francisco Chronicle on the vulnerability of airport security despite measures that have been implemented since 9/11 quotes Colin Drury, professor of industrial and systems engineering and director of UB's Research Institute for Safety and Security in Transportation, who said, "An X-ray system doesn't pick up vapors. It picks up shapes and densities, and it's tuned to enhance the visual effects of densities likely to be the densities of explosives." Go to article.
