An article by Health Day news service reports on UB research that shows that smoking can reduce fertility in men and the more one smokes, the more the ability of sperm to bind to an egg is diminished. The article quotes Lani Burkman, associate professor and head of the Section on Andrology, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics in the UB School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and an assistant professor of urology, who says "If I'm a guy who wants to have children, and I'm serious about it, I need to get to a quit-smoking group. It takes at least two-and-a-half months after you quit before you will see a change in the sperm." Go to article.
