BUFFALO, N.Y. – University at Buffalo police investigators are working on the fatal stabbing case of SUNY Buffalo State College student Tyler Lewis each and every day, and they continue to make progress in close collaboration with the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.

University Police are in regular contact with Tyler’s family. Solving the case remains a top priority for University Police.

“At this point, we are unable to disclose details without the risk of compromising the investigation,” said Chris Bartolomei, chief of police, University at Buffalo. “However, we are continuing to make progress and I am confident that we will eventually be able to tell the family exactly what happened and who was involved. We are working closely with the Erie County District Attorney Office and we will not disclose any information until the DA is prepared to do so.”

Anyone with information about the tragic incident on Oct. 14, or the person of interest, is urged to contact University Police immediately at 716-645-2222

The UB community continues to extend condolences to the Lewis family, Tyler’s friends and the SUNY Buffalo State College community.
