Media Advisory: Actor John Cleese to appear at UB Dec. 9 as part of Distinguished Speakers Series

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Comedian and actor John Cleese, whose work includes “Monty Python’s Flying Circus,” “Fawlty Towers” and the Oscar-nominated film “A Fish Called Wanda,” will appear at the University at Buffalo on Friday, Dec. 9, as part of the UB Distinguished Speakers Series.

Cleese will present programs at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. in the Center for the Arts on the UB North Campus.

An entertainer with a unique comedic style that has inspired countless writers and comedians, he is the author of the 2014 New York Times bestselling memoir “So Anyway….” and the founder of Video Arts, the world’s largest provider of business training programs with an international reputation as the premier source for business know-how.

Cleese’s event is sponsored by the UB Center for the Arts. He is not available for interviews.

During the program, audio and/or video photography, as well as still photography, will be limited to the first five minutes of each program.

Working media may reserve tickets for either program by contacting Christine Vidal in the UB Office of Communications at 645-4607 or vidal@buffalo.edu no later than noon on Friday, Dec. 9. Reserved tickets may be picked up at the will-call window in the Center for the Arts prior to the program. Media may need to show press credentials in order to be admitted to the program.
