UB’s GRoW Home is among top three at Solar Decathlon

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo GRoW Home is among the leaders as the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon heads down the home stretch.

UB’s GRoW Home currently sits in third place, fewer than three points behind the current leader. The 10-day event wraps up in Irvine, California, this weekend, with the overall winner announced Saturday at 10 a.m. Pacific time.

As of this morning, UB was also in third place in the Solar Decathlon Fan Favorite contest. Fans can cast their vote for the UB GRoW Home by visiting the Department of Energy's website.

UB is one of 14 teams competing in the Solar Decathlon, which kicked off Oct. 8 and concludes Oct. 18. The biennial event challenges collegiate teams to design, build and operate efficient, solar-powered homes. Homes are scored in 10 categories. The first batch of category winners will be announced Thursday at 10 a.m. Pacific. Another round will be announced Friday at 10 a.m. Pacific.
