BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Center for the Arts at the University at Buffalo will present Complexions Contemporary Ballet on Thursday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre in the Center for the Arts, UB North Campus. There will be a pre-performance talk at 6:45 p.m. The performance is sponsored by M&T Bank.

Complexions Contemporary Ballet is an imaginative mash-up of classical technique with Alvin Ailey roots, and So You Think You Can Dance accessibility. Founded in 1994 by Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson, two former Alvin Ailey dancers and frequent contributors to So You Think You Can Dance, Complexions Contemporary Ballet presents a groundbreaking mix of methods, styles and cultures to create thought-provoking, entertaining and accessible work.

Complexions Contemporary Ballet's foremost innovation is that dance should be about removing boundaries, not reinforcing them. Whether it be the limiting traditions of a single style, period, venue or culture, Complexions aims to transcend them all, creating an open, continually evolving form of dance that reflects the movement of our world. As their multifaceted resumes will show, Rhoden and Richardson's unique career paths reflect their mission statement -- they have worked with E!, PBS and VH1, as well as collaborations with Cirque du Soleil and the Joffrey Ballet.

Tickets for Complexions Contemporary Ballet are $29.50 general admission, and $11.50 for students (any school). Tickets are available at the Center for the Arts Box Office (Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and all Ticketmaster locations including ticketmaster.com.
