Background

The search for the position of provost and executive vice president for academic affairs was launched in Fall 2011. The provost is the university's chief academic officer and is responsible for leading the development and implementation of the university's academic vision. The search committee, which includes faculty, staff and both undergraduate and graduate students conducted an international recruitment process that yielded a diverse candidate pool from many premier research universities, including individuals from a wide range of disciplines and experience. Following a review of the candidate files and confidential first round interviews, the committee has now recommended candidates to participate in more extensive on-campus visits, which will begin immediately. For information about the role of the provost, please see the position profile from the provost search website.

On-campus Visits

On-campus candidate visits by finalists for the position of provost and executive vice president for academic affairs are now scheduled scheduled for Friday, March 2; Tuesday, March 6; Wednesday, March 7; and Friday, March 9. There is a possibility that one additional visit will be scheduled; updates will be provided as they are available. Each of the campus visits will include a public forum at which the candidates will provide introductory remarks and then engage in dialogue with those attending. The search committee encourages all interested members of the campus community to participate in these open sessions and to offer input to the search committee following the candidate visits.

Submitting Feedback

Following the candidate visits, the search committee invites your confidential feedback on the finalists; your name will not be associated with your specific feedback when reviewed by the search committee. Please direct your feedback and any questions regarding the search by email to provostsearch@buffalo.edu.

The search committee thanks the UB campus community for its interest and participation in the search for UB's next provost.
