BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Western New York high school girls will be building bubble machines at the University at Buffalo on July 15 while broadening their horizons about future career choices.

Great visuals! In Knox 20 on the UB North Campus at 2:30 p.m.

Eleven Western New York high school students are attending the 2010 Cyber Engineering Workshop for Young Women this week, hosted by UB's New York State Center for Engineering Design and Industrial Innovation and sponsored by Fisher-Price, Moog Inc. and Praxair.

The girls are being challenged to use solder irons, wire strippers, switches, motors and other tools to build a motorized bubble machine using the Fisher-Price construction/building product "TRIO." At the end of the session, the Fisher-Price engineers will judge the students' creations.

Now in its 11th year, the UB workshop is designed to demonstrate how fun and engaging the engineering fields are, in an effort to attract more young women.
