University Police Continuing Investigation of Freshman's Death

University Police are continuing their investigation of the death of freshman Jonah Dreskin. Updates will be provided when there is more information to report.

In the meantime, the university is providing as much comfort and assistance as it can to the Dreskin family during this very difficult time. 

Counseling services are continuing to be provided to students who may need to talk about this tragic occurrence on our campus. Students who may need support are encouraged to call the UB Counseling Services UB Counseling Services at 645-2720.

University at Buffalo Police are investigating the death of 19-year-old freshman student Jonah Dreskin of Ardsley, N.Y. Jonah was found on Core Rd. on UB's North Campus around midnight. The cause of death is undetermined at this time. UB Police say Jonah may have been hit by a vehicle or fallen from a residence hall between 11:30 p.m. and midnight.

"We are all extremely saddened by the news of the death of UB undergraduate Jonah Dreskin," said UB President John B. Simpson. "As we continue to look into the circumstances of this tragedy, we are with Jonah's family, and have reached out to students on campus, to provide any comfort and assistance we can."

UB Police are asking anyone who was in the vicinity of Core Rd. between Spaulding and Wilkeson Residence Halls to call 645-2222.

University Counseling Services will be offering counseling to students today.
